Nicaraguan Fairtrade farmers in UK for Fairtrade Fortnight

Santiago Dolmus from CECOCAFEN, based in Matagalpa, northern Nicaragua, has 2,600 farmers members organised into 12 community based co-operatives growing Fairtrade coffee and crops for the local markets.

Santiago will be visiting London, Portsmouth and Oxford from 1-12 March. During the visit he will talking about the impact of climate change, mitigation and adaptation programmes, and why Fairtrade is so critical.

Maura Jarquin is a Fairtrade coffee grower from SOPPEXCCA, Maura is in Bristol for Fairtrade Fortnight. Currently she is converting part of her farm to cocoa production because of the impact of climate change. Maura is part of the board of directors of her cooperative, and her work focuses on supporting the cooperatives’s education programme.

Santiago and Maura will be speaking at the following events:
