GIFT FOR NICARAGUA

This year's gift will go to the Mayangna Girls Education Project which funds indigenous Mayangna girls and young women through secondary school. Often the communities in which the girls live are very remote and since secondary school usually involves leaving the community and living in the main town boys tend to be preferred.

The Project provides girls with grants to pay for safe lodgings (usually in a private home) food, clothing (uniforms are mandatory in Nicaragua), and school supplies. There are 3 grant levels: full (c. $35 a month) to cover costs of living in the town during term time; partial (c. $18 a month) to attend a local community high school; and small (c. $10 a month) to help defray basic costs for girls remaining in a community (especially young mothers with small kids who would otherwise leave education).

You choose how much you would like to donate and 90% will go to the Education Project. NSC has been involved with this project for many years so we will be able to get good feedback about how your donations have been used.

In return you will receive a card that you can give as a present. The card (pictured somewhat poorly) is a Nicaraguan painting. The inside is blank but on the back it explains that a donation has been made to the project. We can claim Gift Aid on these donations so if you have not already signed a Gift Aid form we will send you one on receiving your donation.

Thank you.
