Work with Trade Unions

Nicaragua Solidarity Campaign (and then NSCAG) has worked with trade unions both in the UK and in
Nicaragua since the time of the Revolution in 1979. The current focus of our
work is the Linking Young Trade Unionists Project linking young trade
union activists in the UK and Nicaragua. This has included several speaker tours in this country and delegations
to Nicaragua in both 2008 and (forthcoming) in 2010.
This work
emphasises the continuing importance of solidarity including links between
sister unions. Examples are the NUT with ANDEN (Nicaraguan
teachers' union), UNISON with UNE (public service union)
and FETSALUD (health workers' union), and CWU with FESC (communications
union).
